BIP - Environmental Remote Sensing
This project leverages Participatory Action Research (PAR) to engage students in addressing some
amongst the most pressing environmental challenges. By integrating virtual and in-person learning,
students will develop practical expertise in applying remote sensing techniques to real-world problems.
During the virtual phase, students will form interdisciplinary teams and collaboratively identify a local
environmental issue. They will then delve into remote sensing techniques, learning to analyse satellite imagery and other geospatial data to gain insights into the problem selected as their case study.
In the in-person phase, students will convene in Spain to share their findings, learn from experts, and
refine their research. Through field visits and hands-on exercises, they will further develop their remote sensing skills and gain a deeper understanding of the environmental context.
By integrating remote sensing with PAR, this project empowers students to become active agents of change. They will not only gain technical expertise but also develop critical thinking and problem-
solving skills, equipping them to address complex environmental issues and contribute to a more sustainable future.
The Blended Intensive Programme is composed of a virtual and a face-to-face part at University of Barcelona, Spain.
Virtual Part: BEFORE the physical mobility March to late April, 2026.
Face-to-face part: from 6th - 10th July 2026 (both included).
