Total Budget: €  30.000,00

Project duration: 01/09/2020 - 31/08/2023

Coordinator: University of Pavia - Italy

Description:

The project developed a module on "EU Law & Policies in Managing Migration," aimed at master's students in political science, exchange students, migrants with access to higher education, and public employees. The topic is particularly relevant for the Italian context, as Italy occupies a strategic position in the current immigration crisis, and as a gateway to the EU, it is testing the limits of the EU legal framework.

The teaching method focuses on active student learning through Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach, simulations, discussions, and roundtable discussions with UNHCR, NGOs, and other non-academic actors. An innovative aspect of the project is the promotion of active student learning, giving them ownership of the program in designing PBL, thematic roundtables, and workshops with NGOs or international organizations such as UNHCR.

The module covers various categories of migrants: forced and voluntary migration, stateless persons, internally displaced persons, migrant workers, refugees, and vulnerable groups such as children and victims of human trafficking.
