Clinical Skills Training for Pharmacists in General Practice 2026
The BIP will focus on complementary activities and training for students aiming to become community pharmacists to help them manage all their new patient assignments. Clinical skills are becoming increasingly crucial for community pharmacists as they take on more patient-facing roles in primary care (e.g., patient advice, vaccinations, tests, follow-up of treatment, etc.).
The main aim of this project is:
- to allow the students to carry out theoretical and practical activities to be able to understand the future role of a clinical pharmacist in the territory and in the hospital,
- to acquire the performances that the new pharmacist of the post-COVID era must have in terms of knowledge and practice.
At the end of this training, the students are expected to have learned the fundamental notions of clinical pharmacy and, above all, a methodology for approaching their patients holistically, correctly, and efficiently.
The course will be organised in general blended sessions managed online by Dublin, Paris-Saclay and Vilnius (20h, 2 ECTS) and on-site by Pavia (30h, 3 ECTS). Students will have to complete a short period of online theoretical classes with adapted activities (ice-breaking, preparation for practice, communication skills, interculturality).
Then, there will be a practical and immersive part organised on site in Pavia where lecturers from the four universities will give lectures on specific topics: communication with patients about their prescribed treatment and reconciliation therapy, soft skills (communication, organisation), development of a genuine patient relationship, geriatric clinical pharmacy, monitoring drug therapies, management of minor diseases and counselling.
The physical part of the BIP will be held in Pavia.
The virtual part of the mobility will take place from 26/05/2026 to 05/06/2026.
