Tax code

“Codice Fiscale” (Tax Code) is the Italian tax identification number which is necessary to buy a SIM card, open a bank account, rent privately and apply for a residence permit.

The following Visiting Staff categories will receive the tax code directly from the University: Professors paid by Unipv, Erasmus ICM Professors, Cicops Scholars and Erasmus ICM administrative staff.

All other Visiting Staff can obtain the tax code by using one of these procedures:

• Requesting it while applying for a visa at an Italian authority in their country of residence;
• Getting it from the Italian Tax Agency by following  these instructions

In addition to the previous 2 options, Visiting Scholars applying for a residence permit can also request it during their appointment at Prefettura (for more information, please refer to the Residence Permit section).
